A Local Election
Jane Kim for San Francisco School Board
It might seem random to focus on this for the website's first blog post, but it's been a while since I've been impressed with a political candidate. She's knowledgeable, articulate, experienced, and, most importantly, honest - honest with herself and honest with the problems that face the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD).
Here are also some San Francisco Chronicle articles (from the six-part series "Schools at a Crossroads") about the problems facing SFUSD:
"The dollars don't add up: Falling enrollment, rising health care costs squeeze district's budget," June 1, 2006
"Schools district politics: Major education issues often lost in swirl of S.F.'s political vortex," June 2, 2006
