Maremi “Dragonhead” Chang

Maremi Chang is an oddity as a leader in the Asian underworld due to her mixed ethnicity and gender. Her father, Shih-Fu Chang, once presided as the Dragonhead over the Big Circle Association, a large network of triads that engages in heroin trafficking, human smuggling, extortion, and other crimes throughout China (Hong Kong), Southeast Asia, Australia, and the United States. His massive wealth allowed Maremi to grow up as a child of privilege and even graduate with a MBA from Harvard Business School.

Shih-Fu Chang’s assassination and lack of a clear successor in 2001, however, forced Maremi to assume the mantle of leadership. Since then, she has aggressively searched for new markets while building a wide network of connections in both illegitimate and legitimate business circles. Her recent foray into the drug trade in Providence is part of a greater plan to use the docks as a transshipment point between Canadian port towns and New York City.
